Keep praising God in the dry season, because soon the rain will come, and you will be filled anew.

Like any other season, dry seasons don’t last forever. Seasons will change. You need to keep the faith and keep trusting God in the dryness. Keep praising God in the dry season, because soon the rain will come, and you will be filled anew.

The Waiting Season:

Waiting is not easy. Sometimes, facing a closed-door is easier than waiting for an answer from God. If you’re in a season of waiting, you know that it is testing your patience and your faith. You may be waiting for a prophetic word to be fulfilled, but the situation is showing you the opposite. You may be waiting for a Word of Knowledge from God for a decision you need to make, and God seems silent.

Whether you’re waiting on your godly husband, waiting for circumstances to change, waiting on something to be completed, or waiting on your purpose, waiting is challenging. Hold on to God’s promises and trust in God’s nature. You can get through this season. God has not forgotten you.

If you’re in a season of waiting, you know that it is testing your patience and your faith.

God is faithful and wise. He is planning something. In fact, in this season of waiting, He’s pruning you. God can be chiseling away what’s not needed for the next level. God is preparing you and making you ready for what is to come. So, let Him work. And however long it takes, go with His flow and grow, because Father knows what’s best (and whose best).

Since this season is still just a season, soon it will be over. A time will come when God will say, “It’s time.” Keep the faith. Do not doubt and wait with an expectant heart, just like King David when he cried out, “Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly” (Ps. 5:3). God is listening and knows exactly where you are. Just hold onto your faith.

The Dry Season

The Dry Season is no doubt a tough season. You have probably gone through different moments in your life that have been characterized by a lack — whether it be a lack of motivation, a lack of resources, or a lack of confidence. It’s a season where you feel lack.

For believers, it’s usually called a spiritual dryness or a dry season. We cannot bring ourselves to speak a prophetic word, much alone a word of encouragement.

We feel that we cannot minister to others because we ourselves need to be encouraged. It’s when God is quiet — or we feel we cannot hear His voice or sense His presence as we once did — that we feel emptiness. There are seasons when God seems very distant.

One of the keys to getting through this challenging season is realizing that you are in the dry season and press through it. Know that despite the experience of lack and the feeling of distance between you and God, you are destined for abundance and that Christ is still in you. As you recognize that you are in this season, you must draw closer to Him. Do not wither up. Continue reading His Word. Speak to God even though He is quiet.

“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.”

Season change. we are Examining Your Season:  We experience winter, spring, summer, and fall. We cannot plead or threaten season to stay or to leave. Seasons shift at the right time. All you can do to operate productively in each season is to recognize which one you are in so that you can be aware and prepared for how you must operate.

If you were to examine your current situation or season in life right now, what would you say?

You can be in the grinding season, dry season, getting married season, waiting for your godly mate season, raising small kids or teens season, empty nesting season, spiritual warfare season, tests and trials at nearly every turn season, growing closer to God season, and the list could go on and on.

Again, the key to success in getting through any of them well, is first, recognizing where you are.

Ecclesiastes 3:1, tells us that for everything there is a season. Moreover, this same verse tells us that God made everything beautiful in its own time.

Even if you feel you are in a difficult or painful season, there is still beauty for this season. Ultimately, God is in control of all the seasons, whether natural or in life. It’s important to recognize that from the beginning.

Pride in your own capabilities

Do you believe your ability to hear from God is infallible or fail-proof? Do you give perfect prophecies all the time? It is a mistake to believe we are infallible in our gift to hear from God. The Bible even teaches us to weigh prophecies (1 Cor. 14:29, 1 Thess. 5:19-21) because sometimes God’s prophets can err. Discernment does not happen overnight, but it’s something we mature in over time (Heb. 5:14).

When we’re in the process of learning and growing in our spiritual gifts and we see the insight we receive from God to be a definite and fixed Word from God, then we won’t be able to receive honest feedback. Others will perceive that we are closed to any other viewpoint. Pride is a sin and it is the downfall in any ministry.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for this journey You have taken me on. I pray that I will seek Your Presence in this ministry and that I would always desire to know more of You.

GROWING YOUR PROPHETIC GIFT

In every area of life, feedback from others is fundamentally needed to help us grow and develop our gifts and skills. There is a saying that goes, “Feedback is the breakfast of champions!” This is also true concerning our spiritual gifts of prophecy and discernment. At the end of the day, if we don’t know how to improve and sharpen our spiritual gifts — and the manner in which we use them — we will not reach our truest potential. It’s not that we are the source of these gifts, but it is that we’re the stewards of these gifts that we seek to grow them.

Feedback is important because when we recognize and acknowledge our blind spots, we are able to address them. We can never identify our own blind spots. Moreover, we also learn from the wisdom of others who are already ahead of us on the journey. Our ability to communicate clearly to others what God has spoken to us is sharpened when we receive feedback from elder prophets. Moreover, Godly feedback provides confirmation of our prophetic insight, which benefits us and those to whom we are ministering.

Through feedback, we can assess the degree to which the ministry is helpful. You can also ensure that there is no gap — or misunderstanding — between what you have heard from God (regarding His heart and purposes for a person or for a situation), and what the person has actually received and understood through your prophetic word.

Ministry feedback can come from the following people:

  • A person you share a prophetic insight with;
  • A leader, pastor, or spiritual overseer in the situation you are ministering in;
  • A mentor or fellow team member.

THE PROPHETIC ANOINTING DISTINGUISHED :

This anointing is a gift. It’s not something you deserve or qualify for. The part that requires effort is learning to identify and to practice it so that you can flow in it with accuracy and authenticity.

The first thing you must get clear with yourself is that you already have the prophetic anointing. If God has called you to the prophetic ministry, then you already have within your access the anointing to get the job done. Many people are confused as they hop from one conference to another to get the prophetic anointing when they already have it. They just need to be trained on how to use it. This anointing is a gift.  It’s not something you deserve or qualify for. The part that requires effort is learning to identify and to practice it so that you can flow in it with accuracy and authenticity.

What Does Anointing Mean?

John said, “and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” Prophetic anointing is like a bubbling brook that brings peace, joy, and rest. It is not like a mighty waterfall that comes splashing, picking you up, and tossing you around —although this is what we commonly expect it to be. The “waterfall” kind of anointing is an external anointing and it comes by the will of God alone.

The prophetic anointing is something different. It originates from deep within you. If you would just stop for a moment, you’d recognize that you’ve been experiencing this for some time now. Maybe you’ve been comparing yourself to other ministers and feeling insecure. You need to recognize that the Holy Spirit’s work is already present within you.

The “waterfall” kind of anointing is an external anointing and it comes by the will of God alone.

When you recognize the power of the blood of Jesus Christ in relation to the anointing of God, then you will not ask God again to anoint you. Instead, you will ask Him to increase your anointing. You will also ask Him for wisdom to use what is already in your spirit. As the Scripture above says, this very anointing will teach you what you need to do to fulfill your purpose.

Thus, it’s safe to say that the anointing that Old Testament prophets received was different from that of New Testament prophets. Since we live in the New Testament prophecy church, we can be sure that we won’t lose our anointing.

A righteous God can dwell in a sinful man

In the passage above, John tells us here that the anointing that they received did not leave! It did not “come upon” and then “leave” from them again and again. Instead of pushing through with their own pure will power, they had a Helper in their corner — the Holy Spirit. For the first time ever, a righteous God can dwell in a sinful man, because he was cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, who takes away man’s sin.

Saul and how he partially obeyed God:

Let’s look at the account of Saul and how he partially obeyed God (1 Sam. 15:9-11). Saul shifted blame for sin away from himself onto his people (1 Sam. 15:15). If you assign blame, you cannot truly repent of your sins. Saul did great things, but he did them with incomplete or wrong motives. Thus, God rejected his position of leadership (1 Sam. 15:17-23).

The rejection of Saul’s anointing was made final in 1 Sam. 15:26-28. The Spirit of the Lord then departed from Saul, meaning the special indwelling given for the purpose of leadership was gone (1 Sam. 16:14). Before Jesus Christ, many great men of faith experienced the Holy Spirit and once the work was done, he would leave.

Jesus has not died on the cross yet during these accounts. The man was still contaminated with sin and they could not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit for the rest of their lives. During these times, men needed to sacrifice often to atone and to cover the sin in their lives. A righteous God could not find His dwelling in a sinful man. It was a hard life for these people because they did not have the Holy Spirit within them to make the right choices, and they had to wait on God to “come upon them” before they felt Him. The weight of sin was upon them. The coming of Christ broke mindsets for the early church. For the first time, the anointing came, and it remained.

YOU ARE ANOINTED

Nothing can be done without the anointing of God. A believer cannot fulfill the work that God has given him to do without this anointing. As a prophet, when the Lord called you to do His work, the anointing is expected to be part of the parcel you received.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free. (Luke 4:18)

 

The anointing and calling you receive are a complete package. If you are called, you are anointed!

In the passage above, you’ll recognize that the Lord has called you to do a work. He has given you the power you need to fulfill it, as well. The Lord does not call people and leave them to their own resources to figure out what to do. People pray for anointing as if it is something the Lord would deliberately withhold from them. Anointing is already a given. There is a need to shift your mindset about anointing. The anointing and calling you receive are a complete package. If you are called, you are anointed! When this principle sinks in, you can spend less time asking God to anoint you and more time asking how to walk by faith according to His anointing. A change of focus takes place from the “missing” anointing, to finding ways to use the anointing that already exists. Don’t allow yourself to get sidetracked waiting for something that you already have.

Many also have the strange idea that anointing comes and goes. The Lord’s anointing is so powerful that when He anoints you once, you don’t need to qualify for it again and again. To a certain extent, this was true. Before Christ came, that was exactly how it was.

BIBLICAL BASIS FOR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Biblical Basis for Spiritual Gifts

There is a great deal of division among Christians when it comes to interpreting biblical evidence for spiritual gifts. This journey for prophetic activation, training, and practice must begin with a solid foundation — the Holy Scriptures. Believers must have an answer for their faith, and in order for this to occur, they must exchange theological superficiality with scripture evidence. The process of growing in the prophetic ministry must be established in the Word of God and must be done in obedience to it.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

It’s not true that the gift of prophecy only existed during Pentecost (Acts 2:1-31) when the apostles and disciples received the Holy Spirit as Jesus promised. The Old Testament has accounts of prophets who performed by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is not presented in a personal manner, compared to how he is in the New Testament. In fact, reading Old Testament accounts would paint him in the light of a Power, rather than a Person. Nevertheless, even in the account of Creation, the Holy Spirit already existed with the Father and with the Son (Gen. 1).

Specific people were equipped by the Holy Spirit for specific tasks — enabled to accomplish things, which were previously beyond their power to do.
