The True Spirit of Christmas

If you were able to attend the annual Zoe family Christmas celebration on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 you did not leave disappointed. From the creative and comedic host D’onna, to the dance performance by the talented Serena, the song stylings of little miss Janya and all of the children from children’s church, as well as the community interaction… It was a night of laughs, memories, entertainment, sharing, and giving thanks. The talent in the Zoe house was amazing.

Santa and the lovely Mrs. Clause were also able to make an appearance. After performances and singing together Santa gave out gifts to the all of the children, teenagers, under 30, mothers, pastoral staff, and community. As some received a token of the churches appreciation they shared some of their accomplishments this year, what they would accomplish next year, and future goals. It was truly a blessing unto the community and just one of the many ways Bishop and his family continue to pour into the community, and show their appreciation and spirit of constant giving.

The last event on the program was the giving of the white elephant gifts. The term “white elephant” refers to an extravagant but burdensome gift that cannot be easily disposed. Members of the community wrapped and brought in an unused item in their possession they wish to give away. Each participant came to the front and by looking and feeling on the gifts they determined who they would swap and exchange gifts with. Everyone opened their gifts and were pleasantly surprised. There were beautiful bags, jewelry, makeup, vases, and more, which surprisingly really fit everyone’s character. This is sure to be a continued tradition.

The night commemorated as everyone that came out was able to eat and continue to laugh and celebrate the holiday as a family.

Changing Your Mindset

Worrying is an activity most of us waste our time on, but if we dispelled the urge to do so, we could be much closer to your goals in life. That kind of thinking actually sets you up for disappointment. You must lead your thoughts into positive outcomes to lead your actions there more naturally. Instead of wasting precious time anticipating and assuming the worst, actively lead your destiny into success through actions. When you receive and experience the power of prophecy, you will realize that there is nothing to worry about. You will be empowered and will discover that you are able to achieve many things!

Positive energy is a powerful tool towards growth. When you develop a strong positive mindset nothing can get in your way. You will look at bad times as learning experiences and roadblocks as challenges. More opportunities open up for you because your outlook on the world is more open and accepting.

Believe in What God Can Do

God Wants to Give You Freedom

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36 NIV).

The world defines freedom as a life without any restraint—“Do anything I want to do; say anything I want to say, without anybody telling me ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’” Like the song “My Way”: “Everybody got burned by me, but I did it my way!” “I left five marriages behind but I did it my way!” Total selfishness! “I had my freedom!” Yet, the Bible says the only way to true freedom is through Jesus: “If the Son sets you free, then you will be really free” (John 8:36 TEV).

Real freedom is freedom from fear, where you’re truly free from guilt, from worry, from bitterness, and from death. You’re free to quit pretending because you’re free to be yourself.

How do you get rid of those kinds of fears? By letting God love you! The apostle John teaches that, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:18 NIV).

When you realize how much God loves you, you’ll begin to live in true freedom. In fact, you worship God when you recognize that “God is love.” It is an act of worship to agree that he is a loving, caring, generous God and that we can “rely on the love God has for us” (1 John 4:16 NIV).
