The True Spirit of Christmas
If you were able to attend the annual Zoe family Christmas celebration on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 you did not leave disappointed. From the creative and comedic host D’onna, to the dance performance by the talented Serena, the song stylings of little miss Janya and all of the children from children’s church, as well as the community interaction… It was a night of laughs, memories, entertainment, sharing, and giving thanks. The talent in the Zoe house was amazing.
Santa and the lovely Mrs. Clause were also able to make an appearance. After performances and singing together Santa gave out gifts to the all of the children, teenagers, under 30, mothers, pastoral staff, and community. As some received a token of the churches appreciation they shared some of their accomplishments this year, what they would accomplish next year, and future goals. It was truly a blessing unto the community and just one of the many ways Bishop and his family continue to pour into the community, and show their appreciation and spirit of constant giving.
The last event on the program was the giving of the white elephant gifts. The term “white elephant” refers to an extravagant but burdensome gift that cannot be easily disposed. Members of the community wrapped and brought in an unused item in their possession they wish to give away. Each participant came to the front and by looking and feeling on the gifts they determined who they would swap and exchange gifts with. Everyone opened their gifts and were pleasantly surprised. There were beautiful bags, jewelry, makeup, vases, and more, which surprisingly really fit everyone’s character. This is sure to be a continued tradition.
The night commemorated as everyone that came out was able to eat and continue to laugh and celebrate the holiday as a family.
From our community to yours, continue to carry the spirit of Christmas and have a blessed New Year!
